First things first, Trout wanted us to make sure everyone was aware he does NOT smell like fish despite his name. He does not like fish and yes, we have been asked. Repeatedly. Even if they are making a joke, he was pretty upset and has threatened to file a defamation lawsuit if it continues (his words on ours).
Trout is a dog that somehow manages to be both ridiculously handsome and adorably awkward. When you first meet him, he’s a little reserved. He likes to make sure you’re one of the good ones before showing off his real personality.
His interview process is fairly straightforward: be kind, offer him several treats (extras if no one is looking), tell him daily how handsome he is, and never make any jokes about smelling like fish. He’s also open to an entirely new name to avoid confusion.
Once Trout decides you’re his person, it’s game over.
Suddenly he’s following you around, asking for affection, and wondering why the two of you didn’t meet sooner.
He loves other dogs and would thrive with a confident canine friend that can show him that the world isn’t nearly as scary as it first seems.
We’re honestly beginning to suspect Trout is using his shyness as a marketing strategy. People meet him, fall completely in love thirty minutes later, and then spend the rest of the day asking, “How has nobody adopted this dog?”
We have the same question.
Applications are now open for anyone interested in becoming the very lucky owner of one extraordinarily handsome Southern gentleman who promises to steal your heart, just give him a minute to introduce himself first.
