SOME OF YOU MAY REMEMBER RONAN. ADMITTEDLY, THERE WAS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS RONAN TO REMEMBER.

Ronan first came to us in 2022 as a delicious little puppy from our beloved Mama Cass litter. He was adopted, headed off to his forever home and we thought that was the end of his story with us.

Four years later, animal control near Vermont called.

They had a very large, very happy, suspiciously familiar stray. Enter Ronan: XL Family Size Edition.

Our little puppy had somehow become 76 pounds of legs, an enormous head and the general physical presence of someone who should be helping you move a sectional. Thanks to his microchip, we learned Ronan had been given away by his original family. How he eventually ended up wandering near Vermont remains unclear.

We have questions. Ronan has retained counsel and declined to comment.

What we do know is that our little Mama Cass puppy grew into an absolutely wonderful dog. Ronan loves people, gets along with other dogs and is goofy, affectionate and genuinely delighted just to be included.

Personal space is largely theoretical. Lap dog status is self appointed. Affection occasionally arrives with the force of a minor workplace incident. And we absolutely adore him.

But Ronan already had one “forever” that wasn’t forever. This time, we want the word to mean something.

He deserves the family that keeps him. The home where he can finally unpack that enormous metaphorical suitcase he dragged back from Vermont and understands that he isn’t going anywhere again.

Now we need someone to look at this enormous overgrown baby and finally say the two words he should never have had to wait four years to hear: Welcome home, Ronan. 💙
