PHILOCTETES

PHILOCTETES. That is an enormous amount of name for a puppy whose legs appear to be a preliminary sketch.
Phil. You can call him Phil. By the time you finish yelling “PHILOCTETES,” he has completed three laps and you have summoned something in ancient Greece.
Trainer of heroes. Personally still needs help with the whole being a dog situation.

If you loved Disney’s Hercules, you remember Phil: the little guy responsible for turning an absolute disaster into a functioning demigod. We have the puppy version. His credentials are questionable. His anatomy has been referred to a committee. This entire litter looks like the gods were assembling dogs during a system outage. Some have long bodies and short legs. Others look like little Whippets. Nobody received the same instructions.
And then they RUN.
Sweet merciful Zeus.
You look at the available equipment and expect a casual little wobble. Instead, THEY ARE FAST. THEY ARE GRACEFUL. WE ARE UNQUALIFIED TO EXPLAIN IT.
“How is he cornering like that?”
“Is there more leg underneath?”
“Can we see him again at half speed?”
Phil has no time for your questions.

We’re guessing these puppies might reach around 25–30 pounds as adults, but we could be spectacularly wrong. Please treat that estimate like a weather forecast delivered by a goat.
We do not know the breeds. We do not know the final dimensions. We know that somewhere between his front end and his back end, a miracle is taking place.
Imagine filling out veterinary paperwork that says PHILOCTETES.
Imagine standing in your doorway yelling, “PHILOCTETES, WHAT’S IN YOUR MOUTH?”
Imagine introducing him to relatives who ask, “Philip?”
No, Aunt Linda. PHILOCTETES. He trains heroes. Please keep up.

Beneath the mythological résumé is a little puppy who needs a family, patient training and a home where he can grow into whatever extraordinary arrangement of dog he’s becoming. *Please note: Phil is currently in a foster home and can be met by appointment only.
