Muriel is ready for her big break. Unfortunately, she’s currently hiding under the bed. Some of you may remember Muriel’s, the charming little Newport restaurant on Spring Street with delicious food, plenty of local character, and a rather famous connection to Steven Spielberg. They even named a hamburger after him! So, we named a puppy after the restaurant. And naturally, she now believes she’s a Hollywood celebrity.

Meet Muriel. She is sweet, social, enjoys other dogs, walks beautifully on her leash, and keeps her kennel tidy. She’s an all around lovely girl with one rather unusual habit. She prefers to sleep under the bed. Not on it. Under it. We’ve explained that the mattress is significantly more comfortable. She says she’s preparing for a dramatic role.

We asked what movie. Apparently, it’s a psychological thriller called The Woman Beneath the Furniture. Steven Spielberg has not returned her calls yet.

Fortunately, Muriel’s actual qualifications are much more impressive than her acting résumé. She would do best in a home without cats, as they’re apparently not welcome on her movie set.

And while we’re having fun with her Hollywood ambitions, there’s something we’d genuinely love to see happen. We want Muriel to have a family who adores her. A home where she can relax, enjoy her walks, make wonderful memories, and finally have the security of knowing she belongs. Even if she chooses to experience that security from underneath the furniture. She likes what she likes.
