LEO

Leo endured heartbreaking abuse and neglect before he found his way to us. He was confined to a crate that was far too small, starved, and forgotten about. His previous posts were full of people wanting to know when they could meet him. Everyone was heartbroken by what this little dog had endured and wanted to be part of giving him the life he deserved. But time passed. More dogs arrived. Puppies came through our doors. And somehow, Leo became yesterday’s story. We need your help spreading the word that he is still waiting for a forever home.

Leo is only 1 year old. There is something particularly difficult about realizing that so much of Leo’s very short life was spent simply trying to survive. He should have been learning that hands bring affection, that bowls get filled, that doors open to adventures, and that home is somewhere you feel safe. But somehow, Leo did not let any of it take away the very best parts of him. Today, Leo is 30 pounds of happy, resilient, mixed breed goodness and he has so much to offer Making new friends? One of his specialties. Exploring outside? Absolutely. Curling up on the couch with his people? He’s in! Zoomies? Please secure all loose objects.

He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and somehow, after everything humans put him through, still completely willing to love them. Leo had every reason to decide people could not be trusted. Instead, he came out the other side loving, affectionate, goofy, and ready to hand his whole heart right back to someone. So we made Leo a promise. The first year of his life does not get to determine the rest of it. From here on out, we would like his biggest problems to involve someone taking his spot on the couch, dinner being approximately four minutes late, and being informed that the living room is technically not a racetrack. That is it. Now we just need someone to help us keep that promise.
