We could tell you that Jerry was dumped in a field and found as a stray. But Jerry has apparently been introduced to narrative therapy and would like to respectfully separate himself from the problem. The problem is not Jerry. The problem is “The Unfortunate Field Chapter.” And Jerry would now like to externalize that nonsense, identify his preferred storyline, and move directly into a life rich with tennis balls, snacks, secure attachment, and furniture he is absolutely not paying for. According to Jerry, he was actually discovered after completing a very important solo expedition through the countryside, where he was conducting advanced research on:

Wind resistance in extremely luxurious hair

Whether strangers can be emotionally manipulated by one tiny face

The findings were conclusive: Yes. Jerry is approximately 11 pounds of pure nonsense, and appears to have been assembled entirely out of hair, enthusiasm, and poor decisions. His coat is long. His legs are short. His ears do whatever they want. Jerry does not just run, he takes flight. With all that long white hair streaming behind him, Jerry looks less like a dog and more like Falcor from The Never Ending Story attempting to make an emergency landing in your backyard. Honestly, we are not entirely convinced he has feet. We think he may simply become airborne when emotionally activated.So no, we are not centering the trauma. We are re-authoring.
