Meet handsome Hugo. If you’re a strong, dog-savvy woman looking for a loyal, goofy, and adventure-loving companion, Hugo might just be your soulmate. He is one of our longest residents and has been with us for over a year. While he hasn’t found her yet (yes, we’re looking for a her), we know she’s out there. Hugo is the definition of a one-person dog. He bonds deeply with his person, and once you’re his, you’re his whole world. He’ll make you laugh with his big personality, soak up sunshine beside you, and happily hop in the car for a day trip or hike. He’s smart, loves to learn, and his favorite summer pastime? Splashing in the kiddie pool like a 100-pound toddler.

Now for the important stuff:
Hugo needs a female-only home—no exceptions.
No other pets.
No kids.

This isn’t because Hugo is “bad”—it’s because we know exactly what sets him up to succeed. He thrives with calm, clear expectations and a consistent routine. Our team (mostly women) absolutely adores him and handles him with ease every day. He’s crate trained, leash trained, and genuinely a joy with the people he trusts.

We’re not looking for a foster. We’re looking for Hugo’s person—someone who understands that some dogs come with a bit of a backstory, but still have so much love to give. His circle may be small, but his heart is huge.
