ADDIE IS USUALLY THE SMARTEST PERSON IN THE ROOM. UNFORTUNATELY, ADDIE IS A DOG. We love Addie. We really do. But there is something deeply unsettling about being outsmarted by someone who drinks out of a kiddie pool.
Addie is ridiculously intelligent, athletic, affectionate, and quite possibly running several small businesses we’re unaware of. She’s also the unofficial Director of Social Activities at Heart of RI. Addie absolutely loves other dogs and is fantastic in our playgroups with dogs of all sizes. She’s the first to organize a game, recruit participants, and make sure everyone is having a wonderful time. We have no idea who gave her this position, but she’s been doing an excellent job and we’re afraid to question her authority.
Now, we do need to discuss a few things about our girl. Addie is not a beginner dog. She’s more of an advanced placement course for people with previous dog experience and problem solving skills. She’s clever, energetic, and needs an experienced owner who understands the importance of structure, consistency, and setting boundaries with someone who may occasionally attempt to renegotiate them.
She’s also a ladies’ lady. Addie absolutely adores women, but she’s more cautious around men and needs patience and gentle introductions to feel comfortable. Young children make her nervous, so she’s looking for an adult only home where she can relax and thrive.
Addie forms incredibly deep connections with the people she trusts. She’s affectionate, loyal, and remarkably tuned in to her favorite humans. She studies you with the intensity of someone who already knows you’ve been lying about how much you spent at Target.
She doesn’t need someone who will let her run the household. She needs someone who can appreciate that extraordinary little brain, give her the guidance she deserves, and love every hilarious, wonderful inch of her. In return, you’ll get an incredible companion, a devoted best friend, and a dog who will probably figure out your phone password before you’ve finished the adoption papers.
