To start the process, please visit us during adoption hours and fill out an application completely.

Adoption hours take place every Wednesday 3-7pm and Saturday 10am-2pm at 44 Worthington Road, Cranston, RI. We have applications on site and no appointment is necessary.

For an application to be considered 100% complete we must have ALL of the the following:

  1. Proof of homeownership (tax form, deed, or mortgage statement) OR landlord approval (a copy of your lease that clearly states you are allowed to adopt) OR written and signed consent from your landlord.
  2. Copies of up to date vet records for any current pet or pets including proof of vaccinations and spay/neuter surgery.  You can provide hard copies to our team when you come in to apply or e-mail them to HeartofRIAdoption@gmail.com
  3. Once vet records have been reviewed, we will schedule an onsite meet and greet with the dog you are looking to adopt and any current dog(s) in your home. We want to ensure that we find you a perfect fit. 

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS

  • You must be a RI resident.
  • You must have the consent and involvement of everyone living in your home. All family members must come in to meet our team before we can approve an application. It is not required that you come in at the same time.
  • You must be at least 21 years old.

HELPFUL REMINDERS

  • There is no set timeline for how long it takes to process an application. Our team does their best to get through them as quickly as possible. We kindly ask you not to send duplicate e-mails for updates.
  • We do not do same day adoptions.
  • Please do not bring your dog(s) with you when you apply. Our team will reach out to schedule a meet and greet.

Adoption Fees

What is included in our adoption fee?

  • An initial on site vet appointment, up to date age appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery,
  • Microchipping (for dogs & puppies), heart worm preventive, and flea and tick preventative.
  • Please note: Adoption fees must be paid in cash, by check, PayPal or Venmo.
    *A small processing fee will be applied to PayPal payments.*

ADOPTION FEES

  • Cats 1 Year and Over – $225
  • Kittens (Under 1 Year) $325
  • Dogs (1 Year and Over) $550
  • Puppies (Under 1 Year) $650
