MUDVILLE

NEWPORT, DO YOU REMEMBER MUDVILLE PUB? That legendary little spot beside Cardines Field, where Newport baseball, cold drinks, unforgettable popcorn shrimp, and decades of questionable stories came together? The pub may be gone, but the memories certainly aren’t. And since we’re naming our newest rescue arrivals after beloved Newport establishments, we thought it was time for a comeback.

Unfortunately, the new management has four legs, no liquor license, and an alarming obsession with tennis balls.

MEET MUDVILLE. This man LOVES tennis balls. Throw one, and he’s ready to retrieve it. Throw another? He’s already negotiating a multiyear contract. We’ve tried explaining that the Newport Gulls play baseball, not competitive tennis ball retrieval. He has requested a meeting with the general manager.

He’s also incredibly friendly, loves meeting people, and enjoys making new canine friends. His enthusiasm is contagious. His understanding of personal space is still a work in progress.

At 59 pounds, he occasionally forgets that not everyone is prepared for a full body greeting from an aspiring professional athlete. He’s learning his leash manners and would love a family willing to continue helping him practice. And while he’s happy to share the field with other dogs, cats are not his preferred teammates. Apparently, there was a disagreement during spring training. We will not be releasing the incident report.

This handsome, playful boy is officially on Rhode Island soil, and we’re hoping to find him a home ASAP.  He deserves a chance to settle into family life, enjoy some adventures, and finally have someone cheering him on. The man has taken, he has heart, he just needs a team.

He would LOVE a foster home while he waited for his forever home. Even a few weeks in a temporary home would give him the opportunity to relax, enjoy being part of a family, and show us more of his wonderful personality. He would love someone who enjoys playing fetch, taking walks, and helping an enthusiastic young dog continue learning his manners.

PLEASE NOTE: HE HAS REQUESTED A BACKYARD WITH STADIUM LIGHTING. THIS IS NOT A REQUIREMENT.
