Leo is about 2 years old and, according to our apparently suspicious/malfunctioning shelter scale, 38 pounds. Again. Thirty eight. At this point every dog here weighs 38 pounds and we think the scale has simply given up. We’re not taking any follow up questions on the issue.
Leo had a rough start to life. It mattered, but it does not get to be the most interesting thing about him forever. Leo is much more interested in what happens next.
Plenty of famous characters got terrible origin stories and chose villainy. Anakin Skywalker? Questionable career choices. Maleficent? Cursed an infant.
Leo apparently reviewed his options and said, “OR… hear me out… TOYS?”
Leo LOVES toys, walks and playing with other dogs who share his bully style philosophy of “HELLO FRIEND. SHALL WE BODY SLAM EACH OTHER WITH LOVE?”
During the heat wave, Leo spent a weekend in foster. The first night, nobody slept because Leo apparently thought a sleepover meant STAY UP ALL NIGHT CELEBRATING BEING IN A HOUSE.
Then he settled beautifully. He realized nobody was sending him anywhere. He relaxed, slept and simply got to be a dog in a home.
And that part gets us.
After everything, Leo still seems genuinely delighted whenever life gives him something good. Toys. Friends. Walks. Sleepovers.
Now we want to give him the best thing yet: a home of his very own.
Please share Leo’s story. His villain origin story has officially been canceled. We’re moving directly into the ridiculously handsome, toy obsessed redemption arc.
