Some dogs make sure everyone knows they’re there. Leslie Higgins is more of a quiet observer.

Leslie is about 42 pounds, but we remain convinced that most of that weight is being stored directly in his heart. He came to us frightened and unsure, and while he’s made incredible progress, he still needs a little time to decide you’re one of the good ones.

We’ve been getting him out for walks, and he’ll go along with the program but Leslie has a suggestion. Could you please stop all this walking nonsense, sit down on the ground and allow him to kiss you instead? Because THAT is an activity Leslie understands. This dog needs to kiss people. Constantly.

Suddenly the shy dog disappears and Leslie is in your face like: HELLO. I LOVE YOU. PLEASE HOLD STILL WHILE I KISS YOU 700 TIMES.

Leslie is wonderfully gentle and LOVES other dogs. A kind, confident canine companion would be a huge plus and could help show him that the world isn’t nearly as scary as it sometimes seems.

He’s looking for a quieter home with teens or adults who will give him patience, kindness and the time he needs to decompress and feel safe.

In true Higgins fashion, Leslie doesn’t need to be the star of the show. He just wants to know he belongs on the team. And once he does? Prepare your face. The kisses are coming.
