We’re going to be honest. Helana is a little warrior and most of her short life has been hell. She and her brother, Jameson, were found on the side of the road starving, emaciated, and in terrible condition. Their skin and fur were a mess, and it was clear they had been failed in the worst way. Helana was the tougher of the two, and we truly believe she may be the reason Jameson survived.
During her exam, we found something that made us sick: a BB lodged in her leg. Someone had actually shot at this tiny puppy even when they saw how sick and desperate she was. We will never understand how anyone could look at a baby like Helana and do that, but what we do know is that they did not break her.
Helena still has weight to gain and we are on a mission to get her as healthy as possible.
Helana is growing, healing, and absolutely loving every human she meets. She is confident, affectionate, and full of life. Her coat is turning the most gorgeous chestnut brown and is starting to shine almost as much as her personality. She has every reason to be afraid of the world, and instead she has decided to run straight toward love.
Helana is special. She is brave without being hardened, loving without hesitation, and somehow still full of puppy joy after everything she has been through. We are completely in love with her and cannot wait to see her land in the forever home she deserves.
Helana and Jameson will not be adopted together. Their story will always be connected, but now it is time for each of them to have their own family, their own spotlight, and their own happily ever after.
